...Here's
a great thing that you can only do in Rock Hall, Maryland and no
other place in the world! You
can buy "Miss Virginia's
Crabcakes" Frank Hepbron is the sole owner, manager, buyer and marketeer of "Miss Virginia's Crabcakes". As such, he is the holder of the secret recipe for the finest crabcake ever to grace the shores of the Chesapeake Bay. Miss Virginia, Frank's Mother, managed Fisherman's Wharf restaurant in Rock Hall for many years before opening the Tolchester Marina's Snack Bar, where she cooked great seafood and catered to her friends. Frank joined her in the business and worked with her until she retired at the age of 77. At the time of her retirement she was known up and down The Bay for her exceptional crabcakes - in fact, Chesapeake Bay magazine rated her crabcake "Best on the Bay", a distinctive honor indeed!. Frank served "Miss Virginia's Crabcakes" from the America's Cup Cafe in Rock Hall for a few years, producing the crabcake everyone was raving about to a "full house" of discerning crabcake fans (and closely guarding its' secret along the way). In 1999 he opened his own business, converting his garage in Rock Hall to an impeccable commercial kitchen. Naming the business after his mother, Frank still uses only the finest backfin lump crabmeat (caught locally by the Rock Hall fleet) producing a superior, imperial style crabcake that isn't "like" Miss Virginia's Crabcake - it "IS" Miss Virginia's Crabcake! Crabcakes are Frank's only product. You can purchase them cooked, uncooked, fresh or frozen. Frozen crabcakes are double wrapped and placed in freezer bags to ensure freshness. Customers tell Frank that they have kept for up to a year in the freezer (if you can resist eating them for that long).
