Recreation

Whether you want to burn off some steam or just idle away an afternoon, Rock Hall has a variety of activities for you!

Beach / Swimming

Bayside Landing Park, located on the North side of the Harbor, has a public swimming pool with restroom facilities.  It’s a great spot to lay back and watch the boats go in and out of the harbor.

Ferry Park is our local beach, located on Beach Rd (off Rt. 20).  Spread your blanket or set down your chair and enjoy the cool water of the Chesapeake Bay. There are two gazebos, a charcoal grill, outdoor shower and benches. Swimming is at your own risk and please, no dogs on the beach. This is also one of the best places to watch the sun set over the Chesapeake Bay at the end of your day!

Hiking / Biking / Walking

Our town offers excellent opportunities to walk, bike, and hike; since we’re at sea level these activities avoid hills!  Walking can start as a stroll through town or along our waterfront, or for a more ambitious walk, do the “Loop”.  Hiking is great especially in Eastern Neck Wildlife Refuge – with many trail offerings and opportunities for wildlife sightings.  Biking can take you as far or as near as you’d like.  Try our Bike trek to Eastern Neck for an excellent peddling opportunity.

5Ks and Triathlons

Rock Hall is host to multiple 5Ks and triathlons each year – because as athlete’s say – we’re “pancake flat” our town makes for great events, whether running, swimming, or biking.  Our Independence Day festivities always include a Flat Five 5 (miler) race.  The Rock Hall Elementary School hosts a 5K Reindeer Stampede each December, and the Town hosts two Triathlons held annually, spring and fall.  Join the fun and support affiliated charities.

Tennis / Pickleball / Basketball

We’re proud to offer two lighted tennis/pickleball courts and an additional section for shooting hoops.  Located on Civic Center Road (off Main St) these facilities are lighted in the evening.

Playground

Bring the family to enjoy our playground located off Main Street on Civic Center Road. The playground offers all sorts of things to climb on and swing from, and there's plenty of room to throw a ball around! A large pavilion provides a shady spot for a picnic and charcoal grills, too!

Kayaking and Canoeing

Miles of shoreline beckon you for exploring!  Water access is easy in Rock Hall, putting in can be done at the Rock Hall Harbor public boat ramp, located at the North end of the harbor off Bayside Avenue.  Or take yourself down to Eastern Neck Island for some solitude and excellent wild fowl watching.  Click here for our full list of public landings.

If you have forgotten to load up your Kayak – or are just testing the waters – Chester Kayak Adventures (Main Street) has rentals and equipment for sale.  www.crkayakadventures.com

Fishing and Crabbing

Nothing is as satisfying as reelng one in!  Rock Hall offers several excellent charter companies for your next adventure.  Or if you’re looking for a more casual day of casting stop by ACE Hardware, Rock Hall Avenue, for a fishing license and some tips on the best spots for anglers and crabbers.

Hunting

The best way to enjoy all that our area has to offer for the hunter is to contact one of our local guides or outfitters.  Maryland’s Department of Natural Resources has additional hunting information. See your choices by clicking here.
