Trash Collection Day Change

The trash company that was contracted through the town for residential trash collection was recently sold. The company that bought out the old company wanted the town to enter a 5 year contract and the cost to stay with this company was way out of our budget. The Town Manager began searching for other companies and received 3 different quotes. As many are aware, the town's fiscal year runs from July to July. We have 6 months left until a new budget year. Unfortunately, not many companies would offer a 6 month contract at a reasonable price. However, we were able to secure reputable one at a reasonable price for a temporary fix. The only problem is the pickup day will no longer be on Monday, instead residential trash collection for the Town of Rock Hall will be on Thursday mornings until further advised.

While we completely understand this is not the ideal situation for Rock Hall since we have a lot of weekend residents that put their trash out on Sunday night before leaving town, we are limited to options until we can properly bid out the contract and find another company that will fit within our budget. Our intentions are to go back to a Monday morning pickup.

OH .... this goes into effect starting this week January 8th, 2018, so no trash collection on Monday morning.
