Waterfront Meeting

We all know Rock Hall’s distinctive working waterfront is a treasured town asset. (And not just on the Fourth of July for our famed fireworks!) How can we make it better? How can we help it meet 21st century needs in the years ahead? The Town of Rock Hall has formed a working waterfront enhancement committee to develop a master plan to preserve and support the waterfront and its users – watermen, the seafood industry, recreational boaters, maritime businesses of all kinds.

Our committee is trying to answer some of the many questions people are asking about the future of our waterfront and we need your help to shape its future.

Please join us from 7-9pm on Thursday August 25, 2016 at the Town Hall to kick off our planning effort with a brainstorming session.  Bring your enthusiasm and ideas to help us begin to address these common questions that people are asking about our waterfront:

How can we make sure that our working waterfront continues to support the waterman and those that keep our water-dependent businesses operating?  How can we make it even easier to run a maritime-related business here?

As Rock Hall works in many ways to bring more people here to stay longer and spend more money, we know that a vibrant waterfront is a key part of their   experience. How can we ensure that the visitors and residents alike—who love to see boats of all kinds—will find their way to the waterfront and keep coming back throughout the year?

How can we create better access to the waterfront to those that work on the waterfront and those that enjoy it in their leisure time? How do we link the downtown and the waterfront? How do we link our sprawling Chesapeake Bay frontage from one side to the other?

Come join us at our first meeting to talk about these issues or anything else related to the waterfront!

PS:  If you have a few moments, please consider taking the Rock Hall Waterfront Community Survey. The survey is only six questions and the answers will help us to get a better understanding about issues and attitudes towards Rock Hall’s waterfront. The survey can be accessed on line at:

Or a hard copy will be available at the meeting on August 25.
