Mayor Brian Jones is a lifelong resident of Rock Hall and educated by Kent County Public Schools. Jones graduated from Kent County High School in 2001, later received an AAS in Computer Information Management from Ashworth University. Jones joined the workforce immediately after graduating from high school; he has worked for Kent County Public Schools as a Technology Assistant and Lead Technology Technician since March of 2001.
Jones has shown a strong commitment to community service in his hometown of Rock Hall and Kent County. Jones has served numerous positions with the Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Company including President, Vice President, and Board of Director, firefighter, first responder and currently serves as Public Information Officer. One of Jones’ biggest accomplishments as President of the fire company was the relocation from the old firehouse to the new firehouse in 2006. Jones has also served with the Rock Hall Lions Club where he held the position of Secretary. Jones’ community service didn’t stop with these two organizations; he also served on numerous committees such as Rock Hall Parks & Recreation, Rock Hall Elementary and Middle School PTA’s, Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Company Oversight Committee.
Jones captured a dream, which he had since being a young boy and was appointed to the Rock Hall Town Council in 2011 and was named Streets Liaison, he recently was re-elected to the Town Council in 2013 and appointed as Vice Mayor. In May of 2015 Brian L. Jones was elected Mayor of his hometown. Jones has set an aggressive goal of increasing communication between the Town Government and the citizens of Rock Hall. Since taking office Jones has played a key role in having Rock Hall implement a Social Media Policy, create social media pages such as Facebook and Twitter pages. Jones also served as the Liaison to the Ad-hoc Website Committee, which made valuable and cost saving recommendations to the Council regarding the Rock Hall Website. Jones has also been instrumental in activating a town-wide notification system (Codered), which requires users to be certified and trained. Brian vows to tackle other important issues in the town as well such as, maintaining town roads, creating jobs, strengthening infrastructure, improving quality of life, and creating more recreational opportunities.
Jones has a strong admiration for his hometown and is committed to making it a safe, affordable, vibrant, interconnected town.
